about Kimber
Kimber Starr is a working mom, proud union member, and lifelong organizer running for Pierce County Council to make government work for the people it too often leaves behind.
She’s not a political insider - she’s a systems-fixer who’s been on both sides of the table. As someone who has survived housing instability, juggled jobs and childcare gaps, and navigated broken systems, Kimber brings lived experience to every decision she makes. She knows who gets left out when government doesn't work—and how to fix it when it doesn't.
With over 20 years of experience in public policy, economic development, and housing justice, Kimber has led major statewide equity efforts, served on the Pierce County Planning Commission, and supported small businesses and working families across Washington. She holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington’s Evans School, and she’s spent her career turning challenges into action—from community land trusts to procurement reform.
Kimber is the only mom in this race—and she’s ready to bring a different kind of leadership to the Council: one rooted in grit, care, and results. Because when you elect a working mom, you get someone who shows up, solves problems, and gets the job done
